The EXB-COM2 is used to control devices with serial interface installed at a distance from the control center that is too great for direct cabling. The connection can be made either directly to the control center, if it has a corresponding interface, or via an Ethernet switch. A cable distance of 100 m between the control center and EXB-COM2, or between the switch and EXB-COM2, is feasible. The EXB-COM2 can also be used as a supplement to a control center in order to have additional serial interfaces available if all interfaces on the control center are occupied.
The integrated controllers of the Enova DGX matrixes, which do not have their own local control interfaces, can thus be easily supplemented to serially control devices that are installed locally at the DGX.
