The AKG P420 is an excellent studio microphone for recording vocals and instruments. It delivers a natural, warm and detailed sound. Especially string instruments and singers with thin voices benefit from the warm sound of the AKG P420 - the recordings sound fuller.
A special feature of the AKG P420 is the ability to set different polar patterns. This makes the microphone flexible to use: Cardioid for vocal and instrument pickup, omnidirectional for room miking, and figure-of-eight for simultaneous recordings of two singers.
Even very loud instruments such as brass, drums and percussion can be picked up with the AKG P420. The microphone has a switchable level cut and can handle very loud sound sources up to 155 dB. A switchable bass-cut filter effectively suppresses mechanical vibrations such as impact sound. The metal housing makes the AKG P420 particularly robust and can also be used as a stage microphone.
