The AKG D12 VR was specially developed for miking bass drums and bass instruments. It has a very thin and therefore lightweight diaphragm, which transmits low frequencies excellently. The AKG D12 VR also has a built-in active filter for the following modes:
Passive (without activated phantom power) the signal is transmitted pure and unaltered Active (with activated phantom power) three preset sounds of the active filter are available
The preset sounds can be set via a switch. An LED indicates which preset is active.
Green: An additional bass boost produces a particularly powerful reproduction of the low frequencies and is recommended for miking open bass drums.
Red: Mid frequencies are cut, making room in the mix for other instruments. This setting is recommended for "vintage sounds".
Blue: Bass and treble boost for a punchy and present kick drum reproduction. Especially recommended for miking closed bass drums.
