The AKG PZM30 D is a boundary microphone for professional recording, sound reinforcement and broadcast applications. The microphone is suitable for a wide range of applications from miking of full orchestras or individual solo instruments, security and teleconferencing to film and video production.

The frequency response of the AKG PZM30 D is switchable between linear response and treble boost. The treble boost produces a brighter sound, making it perfect for applications where brilliant impulse response is required, such as drums, percussion and piano. The capsule is located in the area directly above the boundary surface, where the direct sound and the sound reflected from the boundary surface overlap in phase.

The advantages of this technology are excellent transparency and long "range", a hemispherical polar pattern, coloration-free reproduction regardless of the angle of sound incidence, and a balanced frequency response without phase distortion.
