The dbx DI4 is a multi-channel DI box with line mixer for studio and stage use. It can be used to convert unbalanced signals(2-pole - jack/ RCA) to balanced (3-pole - XLR). Adaptation is necessary to connect signals from sources/instruments with high impedance (guitar, bass) directly to the microphone input of a mixer or audio interface.
To avoid distortion due to overload, the input signal can be attenuated/cut by -20 dB and -40 dB for each channel. There are also grounding switches to prevent hum loops. Each channel also has a pan control and a volume control for the line mixer.
These can be used to mix the 4 input channels together and output them at the stereo mix and headphone (RCA) outputs. The dbx DI4 can thus be connected directly to an amplifier and the line mix can be monitored via the headphone output.
To adjust the overall volume of the line mixer and the headphone amplifier, the dbx DI4 has a master volume control.
The volume control can be used to adjust the mix ratio of the four channels for the line mixer.
