The dbx 223S is an active 3-channel crossover for precise frequency response matching to loudspeakers. Due to their design, loudspeakers (tweeters and woofers) can only transmit a limited frequency range. The crossover therefore splits the audio signal into different frequency ranges. These are then passed on to the respective loudspeaker that can best reproduce this frequency range. This adjustment improves the overall sound of the speaker system. The speaker membranes vibrate more precisely, distortion and overemphasis of frequencies are reduced. To lower low frequencies that cannot be transmitted, the dbx 223S has a low-cut filter.
The dbx 223S crossover can be operated 2-channel stereo or 3-channel mono. For the connection of a subwoofer (mono) the subwoofer output can be summed. All other outputs can be separately controlled, phase switched or muted. The balanced inputs and outputs of the dbx 223S have jack sockets.
