The JBL 5742 Screen Array front system consists of a 5749 (2x18") woofer unit and the horn-loaded 5742MHF (4x 8" /1.5") midrange/tweeter unit. The active 4-way concept without passive crossover as well as the very high power handling of over 3 kW allow extremely high levels and dynamics. Thus, the 5742 system is especially suitable for the demanding reproduction of digital audio channels in very large halls.
The four midrange drivers, which are driven in pairs with different frequency ranges, provide a very warm and pleasant sound with excellent speech intelligibility and a very long range. The special, asymmetrical vertical dispersion of -30° and +20° and the horizontal dispersion of 90° achieve an extremely balanced sound distribution even with strongly rising rows of seats and large halls.
