The AKG D7 is an outstanding vocal microphone for tough stage use. It is resilient and transmits even very loud signal levels without distortion (up to 156 dB). The sound quality of the AKG D7 is exceptionally high thanks to the patented Varimotion diaphragm and surpasses even many condenser microphones
Dynamic microphones often sound compressed and muffled. AKG has therefore developed a diaphragm that has different thicknesses at the edge and in the middle. This significantly improves the vibration and impulse response of the AKG D7. The sound becomes more transparent and the resolution more detailed. A slight boost of the frequencies in the mid and treble range also ensures that the voice really comes through in the mix.
The AKG D7 has a supercardioid polar pattern. This makes the microphone insensitive to ambient noise and feedback. To make the AKG D7 insensitive to noise (e.g. from the guitar amplifier), a high-pass filter and a hum compensation coil are built in. They ensure a clean sound.
To reduce/avoid handling and cable noise, the microphone capsule is elastically mounted. Popping sounds and breathing noises are effectively suppressed by the windscreen integrated in the microphone basket.
The housing of the AKG D7 is made of metal and has a scratch-resistant paint finish. It is therefore very resistant and robust. A stand adaptor, a replacement inner windscreen and a case are included.
The microphone is also available with a crack-free on/off switch as the AKG D7 S.
